Linux: Which Distro For You?

Well it is simple really the distro you want depends how much work you wanna do with it here is a simple guide:

first of all there are two main gui apps available: GNOME: http://www.gnome.org and KDE: http://www.kde.org

Ubuntu: This is probably the best for beginners, it has all the apps you need and has a gui so you can get straight to work here is the ubuntu website: http://www.ubuntu.com , Ubuntu uses the GNOME gui as standard if you want KDE go here and grab it: http://www.kubuntu.org/ (this is ubuntu with the KDE gui instead of GNOME).

i would recommend ubuntu to people who are having their first experiences with linux, it comes as a complete ready to go linux distro.

some other distros I would recommend for beginners are: Linux Mint: www.linuxmint.com

slackware: www.slackware.com

these distros will help you get started on linux…read some of my other posts for more advanced linux distro’s
